A Great Reader Review of "A Glint In Time"

Bill Parker is a very blunt kind of guy. He pulls no punches. Here is what HE had to say in his Amazon.Com book review.

TIME PARADOX FOR TOM CLANCY, July 26, 2008
By
W. Parker "Gunny1911" (ISLAMORADA, FLORIDA USA) - See all my reviews Author Frank Derfler's journey into science fiction manages to combine the paradox of time travel with the fast paced action of a Tom Clancy adventure novel. Melding the 1925 documented theoretical science of Satyedra Bose and Albert Einstein with successful physics experiments from U of Colorado (1995), Derfler brought a 'new dimension' to the science fiction genre of 'alternative histories'. Unlike many predecessors, this work explains the time travel paradox in an understandable manner while weaving the science in a fast paced action thriller reminiscent of Tom Clancy's early works. The science is solid and the adventure non-stop.

Asteroids and the Earth

This New York Times ARTICLE talks about the potential for asteroid collisions. This topic was a part of my first novel, "A Glint in Time", and will play a major role in my second upcoming book.

"THE Earth is pockmarked with the evidence of ancient collisions — huge craters blasted into its surface by asteroids or comets. One such object, striking 65 million years ago in the Yucatán in Mexico, is believed by some experts to be linked to the demise of the dinosaurs.

For a decade, NASA has been busy trying to identify what else is headed this way, particularly those potential “civilization killers” of 1 kilometer (.62 miles) or more in diameter that have orbits coming within 30 million miles of the Earth’s — too close for comfort by space standards."

A Book Review Borowed from Instapinch .. About 9/11

I spent 10 years as an Air Force Weapons Controller ("Scope Dope") and in exercises we often practiced SCATANA (ground all the airplanes). I always wondered how it really worked on the day of 9/11.

(Aside, I was in Manhattan on that day. About 3 miles south of the Towers.. with too good of a view of the events..)

One of my favorite Bloggers, even if he is a Naval Aviator, Instapinch, just posted an excellent review of what appears to be an excellent book titled "Touching History". His REVIEW is super.

" It is the story of the skies over America on Sept 11, 2001. Spencer, an airline pilot for ExpressJet Airlines, spent much of the last few years interviewing the principles in this infamous day, from air traffic controllers in Boston and Washington and Indianapolis to military controllers at the Fleet Area Surveillance Facility, Virginia Capes (FASFAC VACAPES,"

A Hat tip to Instapinch and I'm ordering the book from Amazon NOW!

Book Review on Stanta Fe Dead by Stuart Woods

Stuart Woods is a very popular author. His books are automatic sells into libraries and many institutions. Is this book, Santa Fe Dead worth it? Watch the video and you'll know.

videoBy the way, if you're looking for a Great Book for a Great Guy to read... you might try reading "A Glint in Time" .. I wrote it.

Randy Wayne White -- Does a Super Job

Randy Wayne White -- 5 Stars -- Any RWW book is highly recommended -- particularly if you know anything about Florida! The best since -- and perhaps as good as -- John D. MacDonald. (If you don't know who that is, then go get any of John D's books and read it. -- keeping in mind that they were written and set in the 50's and 60's.) If you like boats, water, and mystery, you'll like RWW.

I will say that you'll enjoy the "Doc Ford" series of stories more if you read the books in order. There are plot twists that are easier to follow in sequence. You could go back to "Sanibel Flats", "The Heat Islands", or "Captiva" to start your enjoyment.
